Scott Moran
Scott Moran is a Kelowna Forager that The Acorn has been thrilled to work with for many years. Scott has a knack for knocking on our door to bring new and unique menu items, setting us apart from any other restaurant. Scott continues to push us creatively with what he is able to source. This year, he showed up to The Acorn with ripened rose hips. Incredible! At another point, Scott brought us pieces from a Larch tree. You can imagine the amount of effort this took as these trees only grow 4500 feet above elevation. These are just a few of instances where our relationships with foragers have kept us on our toes, encouraging us to keep innovating with every dish.
Scott continually brings us the most prized morel and lobster mushrooms. Seriously, these things are unlike any other. Coming from a bloodline of foragers, Scott’s Father, Larry Moran, is also a friend of The Acorn.
Foraging is a family matter with the Moran’s, meaning the food and provisions they source come with decades of knowledge. We feel extremely lucky that the Moran’s have continuously shared their knowledge with us, welcoming The Acorn into their work, and welcoming Chef Devon Latte to crash on their couch when he wants in on the foraging action.
