
Ryan Heshka, born in 1970 in Manitoba, Canada, is a self-taught artist and illustrator renowned for his surreal artworks that blend elements of vintage comics, pulp magazines, science fiction, and pop culture. Formally trained in interior design, Heshka's illustrations have been featured in prominent publications such as Vanity Fair, Playboy, The Wall Street Journal, and Esquire.
His recent solo exhibition, "Costume Obscura," debuted on February 1, 2025, at the Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles. This collection showcases new works inspired by fashion, featuring enigmatic models adorned in uniquely imaginative ensembles.
In addition to his visual art, Heshka has authored several self published comic books, including Pleasure Planet (2021), Frog Wife (2019), Mean Girls Club (2014), and the graphic novel Mean Girls Club: Pink Dawn (2016). His monograph, Fatales: The Art of Ryan Heshka, was released in 2017, offering an extensive overview of his personal work from 2005 onward.
Heshka has exhibited his work in galleries across North America and Europe, including Roq La Rue (Seattle), Corey Helford Gallery (Los Angeles), Rotofugi (Chicago), Feinkunst Krüger (Germany), Colección SOLO (Spain) and Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea (Italy). Currently, he resides and works in Vancouver, British Columbia.
