Cherry Lane Farms
Cherry Lane Farms has been operating for generations, run by the family of our friend, Miles. Based out of Ladner, Miles’ one-acre farm produces the most interesting vegetables that would otherwise not have been found growing locally with him! The vegetables at the top of this list include espelette peppers, rezha peppers, and skirret as of recent. Having access to these three ingredients is all thanks to our relationship with Cherry Lane Farms. It is a key component that sets The Acorn apart from other restaurants, providing all the more unique vegetable forward dishes.
Everyone loves espelette peppers. So much so that when our espelette pepper and arrabbiata sauce hit the Acorn Market, it sold out in record time. Due to the fact that espelette peppers are almost exclusively grown in France, whenever we post this beloved vegetable on social media, The Acorn’s head chef Devon Latte is chased down by other restaurateurs and chefs begging to know where we sourced it. This is all with credit to Miles, his eagerness to grow interesting things, and to take a chance on his soil. A dedicated farmer, Miles plants, picks, and drives all his deliveries to The Acorn himself.
Fun fact: Since its inception, Cherry Lane Farms and Miles’ family have held a tradition where every 5 years, he lets the acre grow whatever can be produced in its natural course with no intervention.
